Two cops injured as bandits ambush convoy in DG Khan

Raiding police teams were returning back after a search operation when the accused opened fire on them

At least two policemen were injured in an encounter with bandits in Dera Ghazi Khan, The Express Tribune reported.

Reportedly, armed bandits, belonging to the notorious Ladi gang, had snatched a motorcycle from a man in Nau Abad Chak in the Kot Mubarak police precincts. The victim informed the police of the incident.

Police teams of Kot Mubarak, Kala, Darahma and Taunsa police stations launched a search operation in the area to arrest the outlaws. During the crackdown, the cops failed to arrest the culprits and decided to return back to their respective police stations.

When the team was returning back, the bandits, who were hiding in the bushes, ambushed the convoy and opened fire.

The police retaliated and during the crossfire, two cops suffered bullet injuries while the accused managed to escape from the spot.


The injured police constables were identified as Samiullah and Ishaq. Both were shifted to Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, on the instructions of Dera Ghazi Khan DPO Atif Nazeer, a heavy contingent of police was dispatched to apprehend the bandits. However, no arrests were made till the filing of this report.

Earlier, Batala Colony police claimed to have arrested three robbers during a raid in Faisalabad.

The police force received a tip-off that wanted robbers, belonging to a notorious criminal gang, were present in the area with the intention of committing a robbery.
The police team immediately conducted a raid and nabbed the suspects who were identified as Kamran, Shahbaz and Khurram.  The suspects hailed from Lahore and Sargodha regions.

Looted valuables and weapons were seized from the possession of the outlaws.
