A police official said that a few days ago, police received information that a body of a woman had been discovered floating in a canal. When the police team reached the site, it was discovered that the victim’s head had been chopped off to conceal her identity. Later, the woman was identified as Kausar Bibi, a resident of Chak No 339-GB.
He maintained that after hectic efforts, divers from the rescue team found the victim’s head which was wrapped in a gunny bag and had also been dumped into the canal.
The official stated that soon after recovering the body, police initiated investigations. He revealed that during investigations, police took the victim’s father, identified as Fateh Sher, and his accomplices Sanaullah and Zafar Iqbal into custody.
During interrogations, the victim’s father confessed to killing his daughter over a family dispute in connivance with his accomplices.
On the information provided by the accused, the investigating police team also seized the murder weapons. The police official added that one of the suspects, Faiz Muhammad, was still at large and police were conducting raids to arrest him.
A case has been registered against the accused at the police station while further investigations were under way.
Meanwhile, Toba Tek Singh DPO announced cash prizes and appreciation certificates for the police team who managed to trace the culprits.
