PCB budget approved after meeting

Board forms permanent committee for disciplinary issues.

LAHORE:

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had its 2011-2012 budget approved and has also formed multiple committees including one to specifically deal with disciplinary issues after the governing board meeting was held yesterday.

While the board did not reveal numbers, it made it clear that the budget deficit was higher than the one suffered last year. The PCB also appointed Badar Manzoor as the chief financial officer.

Addressing a press conference at the Gaddafi Stadium after a lengthy meeting, PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt said the budget has been modified while he refrained from revealing details. It is learnt that the budget has exceeded last-year’s Rs2.6 billion.

“We had a lot of agendas in the meeting,” said PCB Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmed. “The most important was the budget. Every plan related to game development, international, domestic and women cricket was discussed.

“All the activities were approved after deliberation.”

The PCB official added that three committees had been formed to ensure smoother running of the board’s affairs including disciplinary, marketing and a grounds committee. The three will be made part of the board’s set-up permanently while plans of organising district and regional level tournaments are also being discussed.

Butt informed that holding matches at off-shore venues has not incurred losses. He added that a special budget for security has also been created for the PCB.

Qadir appointed coordinator for clubs

The PCB also named former chief selector Abdul Qadir as the coordinator of cricket clubs and will also be coaching the spinners in the PCB Fast Track Coaching Programme.
