“The Balochistan government has taken measures on a vast level for polio eradication and Levies and other personnel are providing security to polio workers,” said Loralai Deputy Commissioner Habibur Rehman Kakar.
“The polio teams are also fearlessly performing their duties,” he added.
The deputy commissioner expressed these views while monitoring polio teams working in different areas. He spoke with polio workers and inquired about their issues.
Kakar requested the residents to have their children vaccinated against polio. “We must save children from this dangerous disease and eradicate it from the country,” he added.
The deputy commissioner said the government, through the World Health Organisation, has arranged vaccine worth millions of rupees to protect children against polio.
“Vaccination is the only way to eradicate polio and hopefully Pakistan would soon be free of the disease,” he noted.
The anti-polio teams informed the commissioner about the problems they face during the vaccination campaigns.
The deputy commissioner also requested civil society and religious organisations to work with the government in its anti-polio efforts.
