CCTV footage shows the exchange of fire between the Rangers and the robbers

KARACHI: The CCTV footage of the encounter between robbers and Rangers officials near Allah Wali Chowrangi on March 18 has been acquired by the police. The cross fire, which took place within the limits of Ferozabad police station, claimed the life of a citizen, Rab Nawab, while leaving two others, including a robber, Ehsan Elahi, injured. Elahi was arrested while his accomplice managed to flee from the scene.

A copy of the footage is available with The Express Tribune. The CCTV footage shows cars stopped at the traffic signal on Allah Wali Chowrangi. The suspects, two men on a motorcycle can be seen looting valuables from a stationary car. A Rangers official, standing nearby, rushes to the scene and the suspects open fire upon seeing him.

The official retaliates and other Rangers men also rush to the scene. During the shootout the suspects can be seen firing at the Rangers while taking shelter behind deceased citizen Rab Nawaz's car.

It can be seen in the footage that Rab Nawaz sustains bullet injuries from the robbers' weapon. A robber who is at some distance is hit by a bullet and falls to the ground and his accomplice flees the scene.

The traffic on the road remained suspended during the exchange of fire between the robbers and Rangers officials. A police mobile is seen reaching the spot only moments later.
