Six of a family die as landslide hits house

QUETTA: Six members of a family including five children and their mother died when a landfall flattened their house in Harnai district of Balochistan on Monday.

According to Deputy Commissioner Harnai Azim Jan Dummar, a woman and her five children were killed when a large piece of rock hit their house in Zinda Pir area. The landslide was triggered by heavy downpour in the area. A two-year-old girl remained unhurt in the incident.

Harnai DC Azeem Jan said that heavy equipment was deployed at the scene and the bodies had been recovered from the debris and were shifted to Harnai District Headquarters Hospital.

Those killed in the landslide were identified as mother Bibi Shehzadi and her five children, Kabir Shah, Baseer Shah, Ayub Shah, Naseeb Bibi and Bibi Hajra.

Funeral prayers of the deceased were offered in their home village of Harnai.

Harnai Deputy Commissioner Azim Jan Dummar, Wing Commander FC Colonel Aamir and a large number of locals and relatives of the deceased attended the funeral.
