QUETTA: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) in Quetta called off its two and half month long strike on Tuesday after successful talks with the Balochistan government.

According to reports, negotiations took place between the young doctors on strike and the parliamentary committee to reach some amicable solution where in the Committee assured the young doctors that their salaries will be brought at par with the package being given to doctors of other provinces.

The Committee also assured the YDA that the relatives of doctors who were killed in target killings will be compensated.

Earlier on Monday, Express 24/7 reported , Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani has said doctors in Balochistan will get salary increments when other provinces also increase doctors’ salaries.

Speaking to the media after the groundbreaking ceremony of Benazir Bhutto Hospital in Quetta, Raisani said that the doctors had been officially informed of the increment decision and that the issue of dismissed doctors will be discussed when they end the strike.

The over two months long strike had paralysed the healthcare system in the entire province with outpatient departments and general operation theaters remaining closed.
