RAWALPINDI/ ISLAMABAD: The teams of Federal Drug Inspectors under the supervision Quality Control Board Chief Sardar Shabbir inspected different stores, pharmacies and food sections during the last 2.5 months this year.

The teams raided up to 80 stores in which some seven medical stores and pharmacies were sealed on the violation of the Drug Act. Furthermore, stocks of illegal and expired medicines were seized from four different pharmacies and the drug court indicted four suspects on this illegal practice. Up to 46 out 106 clinics were found to be run by quacks during the inspection in the far-flung areas of Islamabad.

Moreover, the food section inspected some 693 hotels, canteens and bakeries in which 19 suspected samples including water, sweets, milk and juices were seized and taken to laboratories for testing.

Furthermore, some 135 hotels, canteens and bakeries were fined as per Pakistan Penal Court (PPC) on poor and unhygienic cleanliness conditions.
