Sindh Police seeks building plot details from SBCA in labourers’death case

South zone investigations SP Tariq Dharejo sends letter to SBCA director-general seeking complete report

KARACHI: The investigation team has sought details from the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) on Wednesday regarding the plot on which the high-rise building was being constructed from which six labourers plunged to death on March 9.

The labourers fell from the 13th floor of the 23-storey under-construction building on plot D/76 Block-7, Clifton, within the jurisdiction of Boat Basin Police Station.

Labourers' deaths case registered against building owner, contractor

Case 19/154 had been registered at the Boat Basin Police Station on behalf of the state against the owner of the building, Muhammad Ameen Patel, his partners and the contractor Irfanur Rehman under Section 322/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Contractor Irfanur Rehman had been arrested while the owner was at large.

The South zone investigations SP Tariq Dharejo sent a letter to the SBCA director-general in which he sought the complete report regarding the plot inspection under rule no. 11 of the SBCA 1979 Ordinance.

The complete report must include the details of the plot and map of the building to advance the investigation process along with the names of the officials who are involved in the inspection of the matter.
