Hate against Muslims

Letter March 21, 2019
It is time all Muslim countries took a stand and demanded peace

SHIKARPUR: The horrific massacre in the Christchurch mosques has left us speechless. Our tears are witness to the gruesome bloodbath which was made possible by a single person having access to semiautomatic weapons.

One wonders how the world’s second safest country became a target by terrorists who continued to openly fire on the roads of New Zealand for an hour.

Despite Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s swift actions against the terrorist, the cruelty of a few people, despite the losses, is astonishing. An Australian senator went as far as to blame Muslims for the attack. The question that arises here is: what were the security forces of the country doing, especially at a time when the country was hosting foreign cricketers, from Bangladesh, who narrowly escaped the attack?

It is time all Muslim countries took a stand and demanded peace and justice for Muslims across the world. The United Nations must act against attacks on Muslims as their role entails avoiding such conflicts.
