Baloch Culture Day celebrated at law college
Baloch urged to make efforts to promote own culture
QUETTA:
A colourful ceremony to mark Baloch Culture Day was held at the Law College in Quetta on Saturday.
A large number of people of the legal fraternity were present on the festive occasion and it was a pleasing sight when, attired in the traditional Baloch turban and shalwar kamiz and carrying swords and sticks in their hands, they performed the Baloch cultural dance to folk music.
Balochistan Bar Association President Attaullah Langove said that as International Baloch Culture Day could not be celebrated on the 2nd of March due to snowfall and rainy weather, all lawyers’ bodies had gathered at the Law College on Saturday to mark the occasion.
He, however, lamented the influence of Western culture on our society and emphasized the need to make efforts to promote our own culture for our future generations.
The event was not limited to Baloch participation. Lawyers from other cultural backgrounds also participated in the ceremony and sat together with their Baloch colleagues to show harmony on the auspicious cultural occasion.
Advocate Mir Shafique Garganari said on the occasion that the participants had thoroughly enjoyed the event and the Baloch participants had felt immensely proud of their culture. But he urged Balochis to adopt their traditional culture the entire year instead of doing so for just one day.
