GILGIT: Korean Ambassador to Pakistan Chong Joo Choi has announced a quota in the Global Korean scholarships for Karakoram International University (KIU) students to pursue higher education in Korea. During a visit to the university on Monday, Chong said that he wanted to scale up research and other educational activities between the KIU and Korean universities in the future. Speaking to the university’s Vice-Chancellor Dr Najma Najam, he said that the students will not face a language barrier as more than 20 Korean universities impart education in the English language. He also said that the Korean language should be taught at the KIU as it was an internationally-recognised language. Stressing on Korea’s continued cooperation with Pakistan, Chong said that the Daewoo bus service and the construction of the motorway were testimonies of Korea’s good work in Pakistan. He also offered his government’s assistance in the construction of roads in the region, officials said.
