K-P CM Mahmood announces uplift projects for Kohat

Government to establish campus for women’s university, museum and industrial zone too

PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan has announced a multibillion rupees development package for Kohat district.

The package included the up-gradation of District Headquarter Hospital (DDH), the establishment of a campus of the University of Engineering and Technology, the establishment of a women’s campus, a museum, an industrial zone, sports grounds, beautification project and developing Thanda Dam and Kasai project on tourism lines.

He was presiding over a meeting on the issues of district Kohat at the Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar. Advisor to Chief Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Ziaullah Bangash, Principal Secretary to CM Shahab Ali Shah, Kohat District Nazim, senior member board of revenue, administrative secretaries, director general sports, Kohat commissioner, Kohat University vice chancellor, Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC) CEO, Kohat deputy commissioner and others attended the meeting.

A comprehensive briefing was given to the chief minister on different development, health and education related activities in Kohat. The CM directed for the upgradation of District Headquarter Hospital in Kohat, the completion of remaining construction work of Liaqat Memorial Hospital, the provision of necessary staff to make all hospitals and Basic Health Units operational. He also directed to immediately start working on these projects in order to create these facilities for the benefit of the people.

The CM stated that the building of social welfare should be used for Kohat women’s university campus as well.

He further directed for immediate efforts to establish a University of Engineering and Technology campus in Kohat. Government land could be used for the purpose, he added.

Moreover he directed officials to identify government land for the establishment of a museum in Kohat. He assured that the provincial government plans to establish an IT park in Kohat.

He said that an industrial zone would be set up in Kohat for which a plan has already been approved. The CM further directed to demarcate the land among different villages of the district. He directed the Kohat commissioner to find out a solution to this issue through a Jirga. He assured to resolve the government land issue in the district as well as provide funds for the WSSC project.
