Former Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner Lalit Modi has ridiculed speculations that he was behind the organising of the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) that has reportedly prompted the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) to bar its players from participating in the tournament.
"It seems the best way to scuttle plans is to say Lalit Modi is behind it," Modi said on Twitter. "Good to know that just mentioning my name can send shivers down their spines." The BCCI's decision comes after reports that Somerset Entertainment responsible for organising the league has links with Modi. "We have indications that Modi is behind the Lankan league," said a BCCI official.
