Justice delayed

Letter March 12, 2019
Almost 25 per cent of judicial positions are vacant in Pakistan

KARACHI: It is an encouraging news that Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa has taken notice of the 1.9 million cases which have been backlogged in the courts of Pakistan. According to reports, there are not enough judges to take up the cases, and almost 25 per cent of judicial positions are vacant in Pakistan. Due to this, prompt justice is delayed to the beleaguered masses of the country, especially to those who can’t afford a skillful lawyer. We hope that the new Chief Justice is able to carry out this enormous task with due diligence and wish him all the luck.
