In a gaffe on Russian national television network RT, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry expressed Pakistan's desire to establish "good relations with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR)".

Lavrov reiterates Russia’s mediation offer in phone call to Qureshi

On March 1, Russian Foreign Minister Viktorovich Lavrov reiterated an offer of mediation and provision of a venue for peace talks between India and Pakistan during a telephone call with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

FM Qureshi appreciated Russia’s balanced and constructive role in de-escalation of tensions in the recent impasse between the two neighbours.
