Crackdown on banned outfits continues, dozens arrested

The ongoing crackdown against banned outfits continued on Friday as dozens of workers allegedly belonging to proscribed organisations were arrested in Punjab and numerous mosques,  seminaries and other establishments run by the organisations were taken over by the provincial government, Express News reported.

The crackdown against banned outfits was launched under the National Action Plan (NAP) and according to sources, intelligence agencies and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) also took action against the organisations. Control of 16 seminaries and nine dispensaries was also taken over by the authorities.



Eight seminaries each in Muridke and Pakpattan have been taken over by the government along with seven dispensaries belonging to Jamaat-ud-Dawa in Pakpattan and two in Renala Khurd area of Punjab.

In Karachi, the provincial Auqaf Department took control of seminaries

At least 10 seminaries and schools have been taken over by the Sindh government in the past three days.
