ISLAMABAD: Balochistan Minister for Home and Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Mir Ziaullah Longov on Thursday instructed relevant departments to take strict action against those involved in the illegal occupation of official lands in the province.

Calling them the ‘land mafia’, the minister said that those who had taken possession of official land in Balochistan did not deserve any relaxation. “Such cases are increasing in the areas due to corruption,” the minister was quoted as saying in a press release.

Longov urged citizens to play their role in preventing land grabbing, and to cooperate with the government in identification of areas and plots belonging to the government that are under illegal occupation so that strict action can be taken against them.

"The names of informers will be kept in secret by the government", he said, adding that measures were being taken to ensure implementation of law in the province for public welfare.

The minister stressed that any government official found involved in any dealing with members of the land mafia would not be spared while instructing officials to take strict action against those involved in any deal.

The home minister said that the law and order situation in the province has been improved through positive efforts of present regime and security forces in the province, adding that trade activities were also picking up due to the overall situation.
