Express June 20, 2011

A report revealed on Monday that some former National Assembly members still travel by air on public funds.

According to the Auditor General of Pakistan, these former MNAs have caused losses of Rs3.3 million to the national exchequer.

In its report, the AGP says the sitting and former MNAs have withdrawn Rs250 million as air-travel allowance this year -- but the National Assembly and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) do not have details of these expenses.

The MNAs have also not submitted tickets to PIA, which are mandatory to  receive the allowance released from the Assembly's Secretariat.

Of 31 ministries, only three have submitted the used PIA tickets to the secretariat.

Fahd Shah | 12 years ago | Reply This is the reason that now Bangladesh is ahead of us. there was a time when Pakistan and India were shoulder to shoulder, there currency was almost the same and now we are one of the most corrupt nations on earth. if we don't teach a lesson to these animals then the next coming will also do the same. Law and order should be like Saudi Arabia, eye for an eye and head for a head, almost a year back 4 people raped a girl and killed her, the rapist were caught. They were hanged to death on a busy road in public. So that every one would know what happens to a person who does this crime. If only three to four cases are treated in this manner, there would be no crimes in Pakistan.
