26 outlaws arrested in Faisalabad

Police recover illegal weapons from their possession

FAISALABAD: he district police arrested 26 outlaws, including 12 proclaimed offenders, and seized illegal weapons and narcotics from their possession over the last 24 hours.

The police said on Friday that on the directions of CPO Ashfaq Ahmed Khan, a special campaign was launched against criminals. The teams conducted raids in various areas and arrested 12 proclaimed offenders and 10 criminals for possessing illicit weapons. They confiscated six pistols, one kalashnikov and two rifles from their possession.

The teams also arrested four drug dealers and seized over two kilogrammes of hashish and 88 litres of liquor from them. The arrested drug dealers included Shoaib Ali, Jamil Ali, Nadeem and Arshad.

Meanwhile, 150 shopkeepers were arrested and several others were booked by police over profiteering across the division in two months.

The price control magistrates also imposed fine of Rs5.8 million on the shopkeepers and vendors.

Sources said the price control teams conducted 3,548 raids in different markets and bazaars. In Faisalabad, they conducted 3,323 raids, imposed fine of Rs2.6 million and registered cases against 53 shopkeepers and arrested 52 others.

In Chiniot, 1,737 raids were conducted in different markets, 70 shopkeepers were booked while 81 were arrested.

The teams conducted 351 raids, imposed fine of Rs297,000 and 17 cases were registered in Jhang.
