Creativity in students

It is the teacher’s duty to develop creativity amongst students

LAHORE: To develop creativity in students is an essential part of one’s responsibilities as a teacher.

Nowadays teachers do not encourage students to think of the text they read in a creative manner or analyse it critically, neither are the students interested in developing this skill. The material from course books is simply reproduced in their work.

It is the teacher’s duty to develop creativity amongst students and to motivate them at every level of their education. This approach helps students during their higher education as well.

Teachers at university level expect to deliver lectures to students who are pre-prepared. It also reduces stress during exams as students can critically answer questions rather than putting stressing on memorising book content.

Along with creativity, good communication skills are required to excel in professional life. Developing reading habits in students builds a strong vocabulary and nurtures creativity, allowing the student to gain knowledge and confidently speak on any topic.

Hence, it is important for schools to develop these skills along with maintaining a good academic record rather than just focusing on rote learning.
