Jamil Dehlavi’s ‘Jinnah’ to be screened in Lahore

Award-winning film will be showcased to a large audience at the Institute for Art and Culture

LAHORE: Internationally acclaimed film-maker Jamil Dehlavi’s Jinnah will be screened at the Institute for Art and Culture (IAC) in Lahore. The award-winning movie will be showcased to a large audience today, with the ace director in attendance.

Revolving around the struggles and achievements of the founder of the nation, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the biographical film features late Hollywood star Christopher Lee, Bollywood legend Shashi Kapoor , prominent British actor James Fox and prominent Pakistani personalities including Shakeel, Talat Hussain and former supermodel Vaneeza Ahmad.

Jinnah’s screening coincides with the inauguration of IAC’s Film Club and will be followed by a workshop conducted by Dehlavi. It will be attended by promising young film-makers and students. The workshop will run till March 10.

The film has won a number of international awards including the Golden World Film Award in Jakarta, Gold Award at Worldfest Falgstaff International Film Festival, Golden Dhow Award at Zanzibar International Film Festival and the Golden Pyramid Award at Cairo International Festival. After decades of contribution to cinema and having earned recognition all over the world, Dehlavi’s selected works were by shown at the British Film Institute (BFI) in London in August, 2018. These included The Blood of Hussain, Born of Fire, Immaculate Conception and Jinnah.
