RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi regional police officer (RPO) has taken notice of the beating of a girl and her subsequent jailing after implicating her in a ‘fake’ narcotics case.

RPO Capt (retd) Zubair took notice of the incident and directed the City Police Officer (CPO) to conduct an independent inquiry into it. Nasreen Bibi complained to the RPO on Saturday that police personnel deputed at Shah Faisal police checkpost in front of her house in the RA Bazaar area entered her house and threatened her daughters. They beat her niece Abida Parveen, 20, and sent her to Adiala Jail on a fake charge of possessing 250 grams of narcotics. They also snatched her jewellery.
