K-P health secretary seeks opening of Charsadda hospital
Wants gynaecology OPD at new women and children’s hospital to open immediately
PESHAWAR:
The provincial health secretary has said that they were working on ensuring the provision of healthcare around the clock at major public sector hospitals across the province as he called for opening up parts of a new women and children’s hospital in Charsadda soon.
This was stated by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) KP Health Secretary Dr Farooq Jameel while visiting the Women and Children Hospital in Rajar area of Charsadda district on Sunday.
During his visit health, Dr Jameel inspected the newly-built hospital. He was told that children’s portion of this hospital was almost complete and that it can start accepting patients soon.
Dr Jameel directed the Charsadda District Health Officer Dr Fayaz and other relevant officials to prepare within a week a plan for opening the hospital for children within the next two weeks.
Once opened, the hospital will provide treatment to locals and help reduce the burden of patients at the Charsadda District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) and hospitals in Peshawar. Furthermore, it will also ease the pain of acquiring healthcare services for locals who will find healthcare at their doorsteps.
As a measure to provide immediate relief, the health secretary directed to open the gynaecology outpatient department at the hospital for the public. He hoped that the hospital will start working optimally by June.
Later, Health Secretary Dr Jameel also visited the Charsadda DHQ and inspected different wards of the hospital.
He directed Charsadda DHO Dr Fayyaz and the DHQ Medical Superintendent Dr Abid to restart four dialysis machines at the hospital.
DHO Dr Fayyaz said that after a recent visit to the hospital by K-P Health Minister Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan, the condition of the hospital had improved and that patients were being treated with best available health facilities.
