QUETTA: Representative of Senior Doctors of Quetta Professor Naqib-ullah Achakzai and President of the Young Doctors’ Association Dr. Abdul Samad held a press conference on Sunday rejecting the Essential Health Service Ordinance of 2011.

They said the sole purpose of the ordinance is to pressurise the doctors, and called for protests against the ordinance across Balochistan.

Doctors, both senior and junior, across Quetta called for a province-wide protest on Sunday rejecting the ordinance issued by the Governor of Balochistan.

Earlier, the Young Doctors Association announced to observe a country-wide strike from Wednesday against manhandling of doctors in Quetta and detention of several association members.

Three doctors sustained injuries when police used tear gas and fired aerial shots at protesting doctors on Tuesday.

The young doctors have been on strike for the past two months and are demanding for a raise in their salaries.
