An eight-year-old child, who had apparently fled from his home, was reunited with his parents, the national highways and motorways police (NHMP) said on Friday.

Khalid Hussain, who runs a small store near the highway, found a child near his store. He stated that the child appeared confused and hesitant when asked about his origins. Hussain then called the motorway help line and informed them about the child.

Subsequently, two officers arrived at the spot and took the child into custody. The child, though, remained hesitant to talk to them about his identity.

The child was taken to Beat-11 Camp where he was provided food and other edibles. The child then disclosed his name as Kabir and his father’s as Abdul Jameel who lived in Kamoke. Kabir’s parents were traced and, after completing formalities, he was handed over to his mother.
