The Indian army continued heavy shelling of civilian areas on Thursday across the Line of Control (LoC) despite Pakistan's military action a day earlier as multiple locations in Azad Kashmir's Batal sector were shelled.

Indian forces commenced mortar fire at around 3am and damaged civilian property in the area. There were also reports of injuries among the residents.

In response to unprovoked Indian fire, the Pakistan Army retaliated and ensured that only Indian military targets were struck and collateral damage was minimised.

Residents of the area said they are targeted regularly by Indian forces deployed along the Line of Control.

Owing to the tense situation, the elementary board in Poonch also delayed exams scheduled for the fifth and eighth grades while shutting down the schools in the area for four days.
