Health ministry issues dengue red alert
Schools told to take precautionary measures

The discovery of dengue larvae from various places of the city in cold weather has stirred concerns in the health department.
The Health Ministry has taken a strong notice and issued red alerts to the heads of 52,000 government schools across the province.
In this regard, the secretary of education has given directions to the heads of schools and deputy commissioners in around 36 districts across the province stating that exemplary cleanliness should be ensured in schools while the increasing number of dengue larvae should be destroyed.
Schools should clean their washrooms, water tanks on a daily basis while the roofs should be cleaned, and cleared of any wild plantation. The orders directed to stop leakages from any pipes and recommended that bushes in school playgrounds be destroyed.
They should spray the area every day and send photos to the Ministry of Education through WhatsApp. Schools should also repair any spots where water gets stagnant.
Furthermore, strict action would be taken against the school head, according to the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline, and Accountability (PEDA) Act of 2006, that showed negligence in the implementation of the orders.
