Bilal wanted to marry Aqeela Bibi but she tied the knot with another man

DERA GHAZI KHAN: A man shot dead a married woman and injured her husband over a marriage dispute in Dera Ghazi Khan, The Express Tribune has learnt.

An official of City police station said that Bilal had fallen in love with Aqeela Bibi and he wanted to marry her.

However, he added that the woman tied-the-knot with another man identified as Sharif and the couple started living in a house in Mehboobabad Colony. He highlighted that when Bilal learnt of her marriage, he got enraged and decided to take action.

The official mentioned that on the day of the incident, Bilal and his friend Abbas barged into Aqeela’s house and opened fire on her. As a result, she suffered a bullet injury and was killed on the spot, while her husband was injured.

After the murder, the culprits fled the scene. The police have registered an FIR against the accused and are conducting raids to arrest them.

In a similar incident earlier, a man gunned down a woman and injured her husband in Bahawalpur.

Reportedly, Mujahid Hussain, Zakia Bibi and several others went to the shrine of Makhdoom Shah Zakarya in Mailsi Tehsil.

When they were returning from the trip, one of their relatives Muhammad Shahid, who was hiding in nearby fields and was armed with a pistol, intercepted them. The accused had a heated argument with Mujahid and said he would kill him for marrying Zakia Bibi.

The culprit took out the pistol and opened fire on the couple. Resultantly, Zakia Bibi was killed on the spot while Mujahid sustained critical injuries.
