Pakistan, Turkey to undertake 13 joint-research projects

Programme aims to boost scientific, technological cooperation between Turkish, Pakistani institutions

ISLAMABAD: The higher education bodies of Pakistan and Turkey have decided to grant 13 joint research projects as part of the second phase of the Pakistan-Turkey Researchers Mobility Grant Programme to provide mobility support to researchers.

The programme is one of the outcomes of Pakistan-Turkey cooperation in higher education.

Under this programme, new scientific and technological cooperation between Turkish and Pakistani higher education institutions will be developed by supporting the mobility of graduate students and academic staff.

As many as 70 applications had been received in response to the second call for proposals under the programme. Of these, 33 met the eligibility criteria.

After due deliberations and evaluations by experts, 13 applications were selected for the mobility grant jointly by the Higher Education Commissions (HEC) and Turkeys’ Council of Higher Education (CoHE).

The researchers will be involved in six priority areas including energy, food, sustainable environment technologies, material sciences, smart transportation systems, and robots and smart systems.

Successful researchers hail from the University of Agriculture in Faisalabad, Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of the Punjab in Lahore. dna
