Woman shot dead during robbery bid

Police said Nasreen Bibi tried to overpower the robbers when they opened fire on her

A woman was gunned down during robbery bid in Kasur, Express News reported on Monday.

An official of Saddar police station said that three unidentified robbers barged into the house of Muhammad Rafique. He added the culprits held the family hostage at gun point and looted cash Rs0.25 million, mobile phones, jewellery and other valuables.

He mentioned that while the suspects were fleeing, one of Rafique’s family members, Nasreen Bibi, put up resistance and tried to overpower the robbers.

The official highlighted that the accused opened fire on the woman, killing her on the spot and fled the scene.

After the incident, the police reached the spot and shifted the body to local hospital for completing legal formalities.

The police have registered a case and started investigations.

Earlier, a man was gunned down by armed bandits during a robbery attempt in Faisalabad.

The police said that Amjad Farooq, a resident of Chak No 356-GB, and his friend Muhammad Ashfaq were on their way to work when four armed bandits intercepted them near Chak No 54-JB and tried to snatch money and other valuables.

When Amjad showed resistance, the outlaws opened fire on them. As a result, Amjad Farooq died on the spot while his friend sustained bullet injuries.
