Police need restraint

Letter February 26, 2019
The state of law and order in Karachi should also be improved

HYDERABAD: A final-year female medical student, Nimra Baig, was shot dead on Friday, 22nd February, in an encounter between the police and suspected robbers in Karachi.

It hurts me to say that this was the second heartbreaking incident which has taken place in Karachi. Before this, recently, ten-year-old Amal was killed in Defence Hopusing Authority, Karachi.

I urge the Sindh government to investigate the matter in a transparent manner and the culprit should be brought to justice.

The state of law and order in the country’s largest city should also be improved. The Sindh government must also bind the police to ensure safety and security of the citizens rather than engaging in reckless encounters.

I hope the honourable court will provide justice to the victim’s family by punishing the murderers in the light of law.
