Sikh pilgrims cleared for ten-day visit visa for Pakistan

Around 3,000 Sikh yatrees will come to Pakistan this year for the Vaisakhi Mela

LAHORE: Despite escalating tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad, Pakistan has approved ten-day visit visas for around 3,000 Sikh pilgrims who wish to take part in the Vaisakhi Mela and commemorate the day that the Khalsa was created.

The Evacuee Trust Property Board has been given special instructions from Prime Minister Imran Khan himself and has been asked to look into providing free or subsidized food, traveling and medical facilities for the pilgrims during their stay.



The Indian pilgrims will arrive in Pakistan on April 12 in special trains and will be welcomed at the Wagah Railway Station by Pakistani authorities. The pilgrims will leave for the Panja Sahab Gurdwara in Hasan Abdal the very same night but the official event will take place on April 14.

They will also visit Janam Asthan Gurdwara on April 15 and Sacha Sauda Gurdwara in Farooqabad on April 17. The visiting pilgrims will also visit various other gurdwaras in Punjab, including Shiri Dera Sahab in Lahore on April 18 and some in Gujranwala.

They will also be given a tour of Lahore on April 20 and they will go back to India by April 21.
