SIALKOT: A woman was allegedly tortured by her brother-in-law in Sialkot’s Daska Tehsil, Express News reported on Sunday.

An official of City police station said Uzma Bibi, a resident of Jinnah Chowk, had married Muhammad Nawaz some 13 years ago.

He added that Nawaz had gone abroad for work, while Uzma was living with her in-laws. He maintained that on the day of the incident, the woman’s brother Naseer Ahmed came to meet his sister. In the meantime, Uzma’s brother-in-law Iqbal also reached home and when he saw her brother, he got enraged, the police official highlighted.

He mentioned that Iqbal used abusive language and asked Naseer to leave the house. However, after he left, the accused took out a wooden stick and started beating Uzma for meeting his brother, he said.

He pointed out that as a result, the victim suffered injuries and was shifted to a local hospital for treatment. The police said that the suspect was a drug addict while a case had been registered against him on complaint of woman’s brother Naseer.

A few days ago, a woman was tortured by her husband and in-laws over a marriage dispute in Faisalabad.

Police said Maimoona Khatoon had married Qasim some ten years back. Two years ago, Qasim had an affair with another woman identified as Aleena. Later, he tied-the-knot with her secretly without the consent of Maimoona.

After his second marriage, Qasim started misbehaving and beating his first wife on a regular basis.

When Maimoona knew about her husband’s second marriage she protested and informed the elders of the family regarding the matter.

This enraged accused Qasim, his second wife and in-laws and they subjected her to brutal torture.
