Teenage boy shot at during rape attempt

Accused Hamid abducted the victim and took him to an abandoned place for committing the offence

HAFIZABAD: A teenage boy was shot at and injured during an alleged rape attempt in Jalalpur Bhattian on Sunday.

Police told Express News that A*, a resident of Rasoolpur Tarar area, was on his way for some work when accused Hamid Nasir abducted him.

The suspect took the victim to an abandoned place and tried to sexually assault him. However, A* put up resistance and foiled the attempt. This enraged Hamid and he took out a pistol and opened fire on him. As a result, he suffered a bullet injury and was shifted to a hospital. The accused also threatened the victim of dire consequences and fled the scene.

Jalalpur Bhattian police have lodged a case and started an investigation.

Earlier, a case of attempted rape involving a seven-year-old girl was reported in Rahim Yar Khan.

The police said that H*, a resident of Mohallah Ghareebabad, was present outside her house when 20-year-old Salman, a resident of Rahimabad, allegedly abducted her.

The accused took the victim to a nearby place and tried to allegedly rape her. In the meantime, H* raised a hue and cry. After hearing her screams, people from the neighbourhood rushed to the spot and caught the culprit red-handed and foiled the rape attempt.
