Minhas, Cheema, Baloch elected president, VP and GS of IHCBA

New governing body vows to work for the lawyers’ community

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court Bar Association on Saturday elected Raja Inam Minhas as president, Imtiaz Anwer Cheema as vice president and Umair Baloch as general secretary.

According to the results released by the election committee, he presidential candidate Raja Inam Minhas got 679 votes while his contender Barrister Shoaib Razzaq got 475 votes. For the vice president, Imtiaz Anwar Cheema got 680 while Imran Shaukat Rao got 460 votes.

For the seat of General Secretary, Umair Baloch won 588 votes while his contender Imran Ali Kayani got 577 votes.

Waqar Ahmed Gondal received 600 while Mazhar Ul Haq got 550 votes on the seat of Joint Secretary.

Some 1,177 voters out of 1,836 registered voters exercised their right while only 12 votes were rejected.

In the polling held yesterday, Raja Faisal Younis was the Returning Officer while Safeer Khadi, Khalid, Wajiyah Parvez, and Khurram Mahmood Qureshi were the Members of Election Committee whereas Muhammad Junaid Akhtar Chauhan Advocate was the chairman of Election Board. Shahista Tabassum Khan and Sultan Puri were the Members of Election Board.

As soon as the results of the election were announced, the supporters of the successful candidates raised themselves on shoulders and expressed their joy while dancing on the music.

Further, the newly elected members of IHCBA thanked the members and vowed for concrete steps for the betterment and facilitation of the lawyers’ community.

Abdul Ghani Channa Advocate, Hafiz Liaqat Mansoor, Khazir Rao Advocate, Naseem Iqbal Advocate, Rashid Hanif Advocate, Farooq Iqbal Advocate Muhammad Tariq Advocate, Mohammad Azam Advocate, and Abdul Shukur Advocate were already declared successful as the members of the executive body by the election committee.
