Worst humanitarian disaster

Letter February 23, 2019
The forgotten children in Yemen

LAHORE: This is in response to Muhammad Hamid Zaman’s article titled ‘Kids belong to everyone’ published in this paper on February 18. With so much happening in the world and so much happening in Pakistan, with India threatening a war and our policymakers trying their best to save our dwindling economy, we have forgotten about the little children in Yemen. The ones who are at the brink of survival, cared by no one, almost as if they don’t matter.

Mr Zaman has, through his column, helped bring the dying children of Yemen to the forefront once again. As mentioned in this column, “The UN unequivocally calls the war in Yemen the worst humanitarian disaster of our time” and yet the world seems unperturbed to help the people of Yemen.

The international community needs to wake up and think about the children in Yemen before there are no children to look out for.
