RAWALPINDI/ ISLAMABAD: Six murders occurred in the twin cities during this week. The motive behind a few remains unsolved, while others were over family and land disputes. Moreover, a passenger was found to be smuggling the methamphetamine or ice drug to Saudi Arabia from Islamabad International Airport, and two were found to be carrying weapons.

Three different murder cases occurred in different areas of Rawalpindi this week.

In the first incident, suspects opened fire and killed two employees of a CNG station in Shah Bagh area in the remits of Kalar Sadyan Police Station. SHO Zaheer Butt said that according to witnesses, the guard of the CNG station Muhammad Sadiq was attacked when four suspects crossing the side wall of the station opened fire at him. Moreover, the cashier who was sleeping inside the station room came out when he heard gunshots, after which the suspects opened fire at him as well. The firing left both severely injured and they both succumbed to their wounds and died on the spot.

Another incident took place in area of Dhok Lakhan. In the incident Asad Abbas Satti’s mother was killed allegedly by his former in-laws. According to the police spokesperson Asad had divorced his wife and due to their separation a rift had been created between the two families. The suspects came to Asad’s house around 9:30am and opened fire after a quarrel with him. One of the bullets hit Asad’s mother, Zabeen Bibi, which took her life. Later, the police handed over the corpse to the family after conducting a post-mortem while they registered a murder case against the suspects. However, none of the suspects has been arrested as yet.

Furthermore, in a separate incident, the police found the corpse of an anonymous 27-year-old in a car in the area of Dhok Ratta which lies in the remits of Rata Amral Police station. The police transferred the corpse to District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem. The Ratta Amral Police Station SHO Malik Sajid said that they recovered the corpse in a mysterious condition as it was woundless.

However the reason of death would be disclosed after the post mortem report.

Unsolved murder

A youth’s murder case remains pending due to the police’s lethargy. Hasnain Skhawat told the police that his brother, Nazakat Hussain, was on Bangharyal road Rawat while three anonymous suspects, riding a motorcycle, stopped him and shot him in the head.

However, the police has made no effort to either trace or arrest the suspects involved. They have also been unable to find the reason behind the murder. Whether the victim was killed due to some enmity with the suspects or was killed while resisting a robbery still remains a mystery.

Land dispute

A 28-year-old was killed in the outskirts of Tairma Sadyan of Islamabad.

According to the Nelor police, the witness Barkat Hussain told that the suspects Waqas Shah and Khizer Shah burst into their house equipped with a Kalashnikov and a 32-bore pistol, and started cursing at them because of a land dispute between the two parties. The suspects open fired and murdered Abdar Hussain Shah, who was the witness’s brother, when he tried to stop them.

Moreover, the police released the corpse to the family after the post-mortem. A case has also been registered against the suspects.

Trafficking

The Lohi Bher Police has arrested a suspected trafficker. The suspect was arrested along with five women.

According to the police, the suspect Mohsin Ali was involved in supplying women for prostitution to clients living in posh areas of the city. He was arrested after he was caught on secret surveillance footage when he was driving in his car with the license plate ICT-MX-960 to make a trafficking deal.

Moreover, the police have registered a case against the suspect.

Drug smuggling foiled

An attempt to smuggle the drug crystal methamphetamine, also known as ‘ice’ to Saudi Arabia was foiled at Islamabad International Airport.

According to the officials, the ice drug some two kilograms in weight, was recovered from the body spray and shampoo bottles in the luggage of Rawalpindi resident Babar Hussain.

The suspect was passing through the joint search counter of Airport Security Force (ASF) and Anti Narcotic Force (ANF) when the narcotics were discovered. The suspect was supposed to board a private airline which was set to fly for Saudi Arabia.

Further, the ANF has started an investigation on the matter.

Weapon recovery

Ammunition was recovered in two separate incidents at Islamabad International Airport.

According to sources, three bullets were recovered from the luggage of a female passenger, Sakina, who was leaving to perform Umrah.

The ASF seized the bullets and later permitted the passenger to leave after authentication.

Similarly, the luggage of an American-Pakistani Naeem Khan who belonged to Attock and was travelling to Jeddah was initially cleared from two search counters in the departure lounge.

However, the tracing machine of ASF identified the presence of a pistol magazine in his luggage when he was waiting for the flight announcement after the boarding and immigration process.

He was later offloaded while the pistol magazine was recovered from the luggage on searching. The suspect said during the investigation that the magazine was not his possession and belonged to some other person of his area after which the officials handed him over to the police station with the magazine.
