HAFIZABAD:

A bridge, that was built over a canal a year ago and connects Naushera Warkan Road to the city, has been in a dilapidated condition. Residents have expressed their concern over the sorry state of the bridge and have requested the government to fix the problem. They believe that the road poses a threat to their lives, particularly during the night when visibility is low.

A survey by Express News showed that the bridge and its road, which has been damaged due to rains and flow of heavy traffic, have failed to gain the attention of the authorities. It is dotted with potholes and uneven surfaces, proving hazardous for commuters.

Huge holes can be seen at various spots on the artery. Despite the pitiful state of the road, the district administration has failed to fix it.

The current situation of the bridge has raised questions about the performance of the local government. Open pits and cracks in the road have led to fatal accidents and hindered the flow of traffic.

Citizens told Express News that in the past, a small portion of the bridge collapsed a few days after it was opened for traffic. They said several people, including motorcyclists, have suffered critical injuries due to potholes. They mentioned the uneven surface and bumpy road also damaged vehicles.

They added that the blame for such incidents rests on the shoulders of the district administration.

Locals demanded that authorities reconstruct the road to avoid future mishaps.
