ISLAMABAD: In what appears to be a clear violation of the tacit orders of Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad of swift registration of cases. The Capital City Police failed to register a kidnapping case for two months

The police of Sabzi Mandi Police Station displayed routine lethargy in registering a case of abduction of a young girl. However, the case was registered after two months after repeated visits of the victim’s father to the police station.

However, whereas the police are still reticent in the investigation process.

According to the police sources, during December of last year, the resident of sector I-10/2 Shabbir Hussain informed the police that the suspect ,Asadullah, had allegedly abducted his daughter R*. They only filed a report in the complaint register whereas they did not register a case.

It was only yesterday that the case was registered after two months of filing complaint and repeated rounds of victim’s father to the police station while ASI Iftikhar Ahmed was appointed as the investigation officer.

Meanwhile, SHO of Sabzi Mandi Police Station told that the report was filed in the complaint register two months ago while the case was also registered yesterday. He told that he was unaware about the progress of the case whereas he assured that he would inquire about the case from the investigation officer.

The Investigation Officer, ASI Iftikhar Ahmed, on being contacted that the report of this case was filed two months ago however a sub-inspector of CIA police , Azhar, brought the application to the police station two days earlier after which the case was registered.

Regarding the progress of the case, he said the investigation was now in the hands of the sub-inspector of CIA police Azhar.

However, when the sub-inspector was inquired about it he refused that he was not investigating the case nor did he know anything about the case .

Previously, IG of Islamabad, Muhammad Amir Zulfiqar Khan and SSP Operations, Waqariuddin Syed, had clearly issued orders to all the district police officers to register a case at the earliest in case of any incident.
