Dengue campaign resumes in Pindi

RAWALPINDI: After a break of three months, an anti-dengue campaign started in Rawalpindi. The 1,600 workers who worked on the campaign last year, will also participate in the campaign this year. Unlike last year, this time every eighth house will be searched for the presence of dengue larvae in union councils and wards of the cantonment boards. This cycle will take a month to complete for each ward and union council after which the first house will be searched again and so on. Under the new policy to tackle dengue, if mosquito larvae are discovered in any house during the search, 10 adjoining houses will be searched and fumigated. Further, under the new policy, areas from where dengue larvae were found last year or from where most of the dengue cases were reported, they would be fumigated on a daily basis. Moreover, there will be a complete ban on storing water openly and chemical will be sprayed on such water.
