Dearth of sports grounds in Turbat

Letter February 16, 2019
Football club teams of the ground now have nowhere to play

TURBAT: Sports are essential for everyone to be mentally and physically relaxed. But in the city of Turbat in Balochistan, people have no facility to play.

They practise sports in buildings, markets and streets owing to the lack of grounds and open spaces.

In fact, children are also found playing on roads which is dangerous for them, and passers-by too. What is worse is that some grounds which were used by locals have been snatched forcefully.

Recently, the Gold Football Youth Singanisar’s ground was occupied by some people in power, who then constructed a building there. The football club teams of the ground now have nowhere to play.

Besides the fact that the teams which played at the ground have now been deprived of playing the sport, we cannot also rule out the fact that because of the absence of a playground, the youth of Turbat now run the risk of getting involved in negative activities, such as drug consumption.

We request the sports minister and other authorities to take strict action against powerful men who are on a rampage to construct buildings on sports ground.
