Woman shot dead for refusing to develop ‘illicit’ relations

Police said Waqas had a crush on Safia Bibi and was pressurising her to indulge in immoral activities

OKARA: A woman was gunned down for refusing to indulge in ‘immoral’ activities within Baseer Pur police precints in Okara, Express News has learnt.

The police said Safia Bibi, a resident of Mahar Baqir Village, was present in her home when accused Muhammad Waqas came to meet her.

The culprit had an argument with the woman. However, when the argument escalated, the culprit took out a pistol and opened fire on Safia Bibi, killing her on the spot. After carrying out the murder, the suspect fled the scene.

An official from Baseer Pur police station said that during initial investigations, it was revealed that Waqas had a crush on the woman and wanted to develop ‘illicit’ relations with her.

He added the suspect had been pressurising the victim for a long time to indulge in immoral activities but she refused to do so. He mentioned in a fit of rage, Waqas shot her dead.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered against the suspect on the complaint of the victim’s father Sadiq. Further probe is under way.

Earlier, a man was gunned down over suspicion of having illicit relations with a woman in Vehari’s Burewala City. The incident took place within Fateh Shah police station precincts.

Accused Sadaqat Dogar, Bilal Dogar, Iftikhar Dogar, Nadeem and others suspected that Noman Sajjad had illicit relations with one of the women in their family.

In a fit of rage, the accused opened fire on Noman, killing him on the spot and fled the scene.

The victim was a resident of Chak No 491 and used to work in Saudi Arabia. A few months back Noman came to Pakistan to meet his family.

The accused had also lodged a complaint against the victim at the police station for having a relationship with a woman of their family. The deceased was returning from court after getting bail in the said case when the culprits opened fire on him.
