NAB arrests DOAM director, absconder in Modarba scam

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa office on Thursday arrested a top official of the K-P Directorate of Archaeology and Museums (DOAM).

According to a statement issued by NAB, DOAM Director Abdul Samad was arrested for alleged misuse of authority.

The bureau had received a complaint was received at the bureau against Samad alleging corruption and corrupt practices. NAB inquiry provided enough evidence to arrest and interrogate Samad.

"The accused person, in connivance with others, misused his authority and made numerous appointments at different archaeological sites in gross violation of rules," the bureau claimed.

Separately, NAB K-P said it has arrested a suspect absconding in the Modarba scam case.

According to a statement, NAB K-P arrested Syed Hussam Uddin Shah, a resident of Rawalpindi, allegedly involved in cheating public at large under the garb of investment in Islamic Mudarraba swindling hundreds millions of rupees.

NAB K-P had initiated an inquiry against the accused people following several complaints.

During the investigation it transpired that the accused in connivance with each other persuaded and motivated the public to invests in their Mudarraba business showing them multiple businesses.

They promised exorbitant profit to the public on their investments, but in fact there was no such business.

Thus the accused person defrauded the general public and deprived them of their hard earnings.

The case is under trial in Accountability Court. The accused will be produced before the Accountability Court for obtaining his physical custody.
