Pakistan Army, Police, Punjab and Sindh have qualified for the semi-finals of the ongoing men's National Netball Championship in Peshawar.
Defending champions Army overcame Pakistan Air Force (Paf) 28-22 to book a place in the semi-final while last year's runners-up Police thrashed Balochistan 29-7. Punjab defeated Fata 48-10 while Sindh beat Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa 22-18 in a close match to reach the semi-finals.
Army will take on Police in the semi-final while Punjab face Sindh in the other last-four match today.
Playing to promote peace
The Pakistan Netball Federation's (PNF) decision to hold the championship in Peshawar had stirred criticism from provincial associations citing security concerns but it has been welcomed by the participating athletes.
"We want to convey the message that terrorism cannot stop us," Police captain Mohammad Ali told The Express Tribune. "There were security concerns but the venue is safe now."
