The resolution was made by the participating agencies, academia and stakeholders at the concluding session of the conference organised by the Centre of Disaster Preparedness and Management, UoP.
CDPM Director Dr Noor Jahan said resilience, adaptation and preparedness are key building blocks of disaster managements while the government is focusing on the emergency response system that is reactive approach whereas: “we need a proactive approach.”
UoP proposes climate change research institute
Pakistan Red Crescent Society Chairman General (retd) Hamid Khan said advocacy is the most important way to reach stakeholders and government.
UoP VC said climate change has altered the weather cycle and now there was late spring snowfall in the country and winter weather of September October are fast shifting to the March-April months, showing dangerous trajectories.
