Man assaults sister in property dispute

Victim says in a bid to claim her share in the property, she approached the court and filed a case against her brother

A man allegedly tortured his sister over a property dispute in Tandlianwala tehsil on Monday.

Victim Ume Kulsoom told Express News that she was a married woman and the mother of three differently-abled children.

She maintained that her late father had equally distributed property worth millions of rupees among his sons and daughters. However, she mentioned that her brother Abdul Qayyum Ghazi was adamant not to give her a share in the said property, despite it being her legal right.

The woman pointed out that despite repeated attempts, the brother refused to honour the request. Ume Kulsoom highlighted that in a bid to claim her share in the property, she approached the court and filed a case against Abdul Qayyum.

She revealed that when her brother learnt about the case, he barged into her house and allegedly beat and tortured her.

The victim said she suffered injuries due to the brutal torture and had initiated legal proceedings against Abdul Qayyum. The woman said she feared for her life as her brother wanted to murder her. She demanded the police and higher authorities provide protection and justice.

A few days back, a woman was tortured by her husband and in-laws over a marriage dispute in Faisalabad.

Maimoona Khatoon had married Qasim some ten years back.

Two years ago, Qasim had an affair with another woman identified as Aleena and married her without the consent of his first wife.

After his second marriage, he started misbehaving and beating Maimoona on a regular basis.

When Maimoona learnt of her husband’s second marriage, she protested and informed the elders of the family about the matter.

This enraged accused Qasim, his second wife and in, They allegedly subjected her to brutal torture and she suffered critical injuries as a result.
