QUETTA: All hospital laboratories, blood banks, hotels, and shops in Quetta have been ordered to remove their signboards in one week, as part of ongoing crackdown against billboards and hoardings carried out by the Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC).

The instruction came during a meeting on Monday chaired by QMC District Administrator Meer Farooq Langove where administration of all government and private hospitals were present.

“We have directed all hospitals, shops and private companies to remove tall signboards within a week after which the metropolitan will commence action on the directives of Supreme Court,” said Langove.

The administrator said all departments and citizens should share their collective efforts to make the provincial capital neat and clean. “The hospitals should functionalise their ground parking to avoid traffic jam,” he said.

“They [the hospitals] should also develop a dumping site in their vicinity from where the metropolitan staff can easily pick and dispose of the garbage,” he added.

Expressing satisfaction over cleanliness, he said the QMC has been utilising all available resources to restore the historical beauty of Quetta. Moreover, operation has also been launched in this regard, he added.
