Illegal assets case: NAB reopens appeal challenging Zardari's acquittal

Court to hear appeal on March 6

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi has reopened the appeal challenging the acquittal of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari in a case pertaining to acquisition of assets through illegal means, Express News reported.

According to the anti-graft body, the reference against Asif Ali Zardari was concrete and further evidences have been found against him.

NAB has appealed that Zardari's acquittal should be abolished and strict action should be taken against him.



Accepting NAB’s plea, Justice Qasim Khan has fixed March 6 for hearing the appeal while the high court has sought record from the accountability court.

Zardari was acquitted in 2017 by a Rawalpindi accountability court in several references involving alleged possession of assets beyond his known sources of income.
