Police yet to arrest man who assaulted ex-wife

Instead of registering a case, the police keeps summoning the applicant repeatedly

ISLAMABAD: Police in the federal capital has allegedly sided with a man who attempted to kidnap his ex-wife on gunpoint within the remits of Lohi Behr police station. Instead of registering a case and arresting the suspect, the police keep summoning the applicant repeatedly.

According to police sources, Nousheen Qayyum had married the suspect, Tahir Khalil. She later filed for a divorce and they separated.

Later, the suspect started threatening her and a few weeks ago, allegedly attempted to kidnap her at gunpoint. When she resisted, the suspect allegedly started assaulting her and dragged her by her hair.



Meanwhile, the police have refused to register a case against Khalil despite the fact Qayyum filed an application.

As a result, Qayyum has now decided to approach the court and has filed an application under section 21-A with the district and sessions court after which the court directed the police to register a case against Khalil.

However, the police still appear reluctant to arrest the suspect despite having adequate information.
